This is one of those projects where you learn every step of the way. I’m tackling a modern design approach. There’s nothing intimidating about a modern design for me. I know it’s just sewing, but I want that look and I’m using fabrics not usually associated with modern style to make it. Will the fabrics become modern for me?
Not only am I tackling a modern design with traditional fabrics, I’ve learned a thing or two about editing my videos. Hopefully, these new videos will be more interesting and enjoyable. Maybe.
As I jumped into this project I’ve called Squares and Squares, I realized the journey is for me, not readers of the blog or viewers on my channel. I’m sewing projects and making videos because I enjoy doing it. Improving my video making and sewing skills is the way I get to be creative these days. Does it matter whether anybody notices?
I think that’s the question with all forms of art. Are we doing it for ourselves and hoping somebody else will be happy about the share or are we doing it for others and hoping we’ll enjoy the process? I think when you create and share, the reasons become blurred.
When I think of modern techniques, skills, styles and me, I think that the word “modern” is subjective. I’ve modernized my quilting and my videos this week. Huh? Does that mean that I look modern? Not when I look in the mirror. Not when I look around me.
